The edit page has the remote-stuff commented out, the required valition seems to work fine.
Going to http://test.fibranet-services.com/fnb/phase1/contents/company_group_validate_name.asp?GroupName=b gives me "True", which is not a valid response for the remote method. As it says in the documentation: "The response is evaluated as JSON and must be true for valid elements and false for invalid elements."
