Hi Karl, I came across the star rating plugin because I needed one myself.
There were many variations, but I narrowed the list down to 2. One was the Half-Star rating control and the other was PHPLetter's downgrade- able star rating control. I decided to build upon the 'semantically correct' version and then work towards the other advanced features such as half-ratings, custom images, on/off toggle, etc... I will develop all those features in the coming weeks and post the updates here for anyone who's interested...
