Actually, the Truncate plugin has a small bug that I have been meaning
to fix for quite some time, and I have been lazy about doing so...
it's a good thing your plugin came along!

As an FYI -- the number one request I received was to be able to
truncate in the middle of a nested element, and still maintain the
style applied through that element.
