While my tired brain was wondering what you meant by that, it came up with a completely unrelated idea - we could modify/extend the lazy image loader plugin [1] so that code blocks "below the fold" would not get syntax highlighted until the user starts scrolling down the page. I often end up with pages that have dozens of small code blocks with descriptive paragraphs in between them. This would make the initial page render more quickly and as the user scrolls down more code blocks get syntax highlighted automagically.
