I played around with tinyMCE (v 2.1.0) a few months back and really enjoyed it: simple and lightweight. However I ran into a bug that made it impossible for me to use in the application I was developing. If a user is browsing with IE and Content Advisor enabled (in Tools > Internet Options then the Content tab) the browser will crash EVERY time. Unfortunately my code was to be used by a corporate kiosk system that was controlled by another department and they limited the system to IE and controlled browsing using Content Advisor. I was forced to change to FCKEditor to meet my needs. This probably isn't an issue for you (since you're looking for Safari support), but it's still a good thing to bear in mind for other projects if the intended audience might be very broad.
