Hi Mike! Thank you for your reply. The reason why I didn't choose the unobtrusive way of doing this (like your suggestion) is that I have to use a Java framework that generates much of the HTML. However, in this case I think I can manage to use your work-around. Thanks again.
BTW, this was working with some blockUI & jQuery combination a few months ago. I don't remember though which versions I had then. tazman
