Once you have a site working with your copy of jQ, there is no reason to update it unless you find that it has a new feature you need or fixes a bug you needed fixing. While it is, i understand, quite tempting to go around and update all sites to the latest version, there normally is no need to. Update only as *needed*. i run into the same problem with the PHP framework which powers my sites - upgrading all sites is a real pain in the butt... so i simply update those sites which would truly benefit from an update. If there's no gain in upgrading, it's not an "up"grade.
