The most you will get out of a 56k modem is about 6kB/second.  Throw
in a bit of network latency and typically you'll get around 3.5 to 4
kB/s.  Feeding users on dial-up a 500kB web page is nasty, expect them
to not bother waiting 2 to 3 minutes for the page to finish loading.
