Hey Sean,
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it didn't work but my DNS
resolution is much improved!! :)
The odd thing that I discovered last night is that my notebook PC (same
specs as above), which connects to my network wirelessly, can pull down
the repo with no problems. It seems isolated to my desktop machine but
only when accessing the Google code SVN. To verify this, I went to the
google-ajaxslt project (http://code.google.com/p/google-ajaxslt/) and
tried to checkout the code and got:
Error: REPORT request failed on '/svn/!svn/vcc/default'
Error: REPORT of '/svn/!svn/vcc/default': 502 Bad Gateway
(http://google-ajaxslt.googlecode.com)
In contrast, I tried checking out code from the:
AjaxCFC project repo (http://svn.riaforge.org/ajaxcfc/)
Ruby On Rails repo (http://svn.rubyonrails.org/rails/trunk/)
Prototype framework repo
(http://svn.rubyonrails.org/rails/spinoffs/prototype/trunk)
All of them worked fine.
I'm stumped because it seems specific to Google code's SVN repos and I
didn't have this issue until the repo was migrated over.

I'm not sure why you are getting that error though. Perhaps it is a DNS
issue? You could try switching you DNS to openDNS.com
