I like that people are looking to protect the future of jQuery. I think it is a phenomenal effort that is part of a general trend of making Javascript a creditable language to use in web development, and for that I am truly thankful.
I also think that people are just getting really excited about jQuery and are joining teams, which is a really natural thing to do. Though I personally don't like nastiness, I don't mind people taking sides and having strong opinions. Truth is, I think that the newer toolkits should be proud of their contributions, but should also take into consideration the comments in question. I think that a new toolkit can add a fresh perspective or cater to a particular niche of development without necessarily developing a new language to accomplish that. jQuery is a great language (i also like MooTools), and perhaps using the same structure and format while extending functionality would make sense and avoid unnecesarily splitting the community. But I am sure everyone who is developing their own products and toolkits knows just what they are doing. We are a good bunch, developers, and our intentions are usually good and our minds reasonably clear. Even the pot smokers. :) -Ariel ----- Original Message ---- From: -dean <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: jQuery (English) <jquery-en@googlegroups.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 4, 2007 1:13:09 PM Subject: [jQuery] Re: Promoting jQuery the WRONG way Rey, Thanks for posting this. But to be honest I think I overreacted to Michael's comment. To put the record straight. I don't have a problem with jQuery users. You are a pretty great bunch from what I can gather. Mostly I think this is just part of a recent trend whereby some people can be a bit harsher online than they would be in a face-to-face conversation. I should be used to it by now. :-) -dean
