Position : Network/IBM Engineer Location: Chicago IL Duration: 1+year Job Title: IBM Engineer Looking for a talented individual who will be responsible for designing, installing, testing, maintaining, enhancing, configuring and securing all enterprise storage tier 1 and tier 2 system components (e.g. storage frames, disks, tape systems and switches) and storage reporting tools (TPC) in the IS environment. Role Specific Responsibilities " Support customer service level objectives by planning, installing, and maintaining, and tuning disk storage systems on IBMS DS8300 and EMC Clarion storage systems as well as SUN tape systems. " Participate in concurrent Information Systems projects of differing size and complexity. " Provide research, recommendations, and oversee implementation of storage on new projects. " Monitors storage capacity and plans and implements additional storage to meet growth needs. " Identifies steps necessary to fine-tune performance of storage systems. " Provide pertinent information to management, recommending alternatives to increased efficiency. " Develop and implement standards and procedures to ensure consistency. " Provide training and assistance to staff regarding the generation and maintenance of all storage management related software tools and equipment. " Diagnose and resolve storage and backup related problems. " Coordinate problem resolution activities, which require additional assistance or technical expertise by contacting the appropriate resources, including vendors or communications personnel at other organizations. " Ensure accurate problem resolution records by updating and/or closing problem incident records. " Performs upgrades of storage systems to include storage frames, disks, tape systems, switches and reporting tools. " Schedules, plans, and performs periodic scheduled maintenance to ensure systems are operating at optimal levels.
