Bucharest Summer University, the international summer school of the Bucharest 
University of Economics ASE, organized by the Students’ Senate, gladly 
announces the launch of its official website: www.bsu.ase..ro. Here you can 
find information about the recruitment process, testimonials of former 
participants, pictures from the previous editions, as well as details about the 
surprises devised by the organizers.
 
 
Bucharest Summer University 2009will gather, between the 10th and the 24th of 
August, a number of specialists and personalities from the economic sphere and 
public life, who will develop a detailed analysis on the theme: ECONOMICS AND 
POLITICS IN THE GLOBAL WORLD.
 
 
The overarching visionof the event is "a global economy based on knowledge" and 
the objectives of this edition include an identification of the cultural 
changes that lead to changes in economic thinking, highlighting the dependence 
of political and economic environment in the evolution towards a global world. 
It focuses on efficiency measures for the recovery of the economy after the 
crisis and on debating issues of development of economy: economic efficiency 
vs. social responsibility.
 
 
Remarkable guest speakershave announced their participation at Bucharest Summer 
University, among whom professor Robert Owen PhD., University of Nantes, 
France, former consultant of the OECD and World Bank, professor Zeljko Sevic 
PhD., head of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Risk at the Caledoniana 
University, Scotland, professor Gheorghe Zaman PhD., director of the National 
Institute of Economic Research, president of the General Association of 
Economists in Romania, professor Adrian Severin PhD., European Parliament 
representative of Romania,Lucian Croitoru PhD., advisor to the governor of the 
National Bank of Romania, former Romania’s representative at the International 
Monetary Fund as Senior Adviser to the Executive Directors.  Professors and 
specialists from prestigious universities such as London School of Economics, 
UC Davis, "John Hopkins" University and representatives of theEuropean 
Commission have also been invited. 
 
 
In order to apply for Bucharest Summer University 2009, you, as potential 
participants, are offered 3 possibilities:
 
 
- If you wish to be considered for a full scholarship, offered by the 
organizers, which fully covers the summer school’s costs - send the necessary 
documents by 15th of May;
- If you wish to apply for a partial scholarship, offered by the organizers, 
which covers a part of the summer school’s costs - send the necessary documents 
by 31st of May;
- If you wish to apply via a Standard application - send the necessary 
documents by 31st of May.
 
 
After graduation, participants will obtain a participation diploma and 5 ECTS 
(European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).
