Review comment:
       Yeah, I think it's actually fine the way it is: with the try-catrch 
around `startConnector(...)`, because that helps us catch any problem _at that 
point_ and allows us to continue starting the tasks.
   
   If we were to remove this try-catch around `startConnector(...)`, then any 
problem would cause us to return immediately from the method.
