[~asasvari] Yes, you are right. [~cmccabe] submitted a patch to fix this here:
https://github.com/apache/kafka/pull/4980 (as part of KIP-222). We may have to
wait until it is merged to finish this work, but that shouldn't be long. Can
you check whether it has everything you need?
