I fully endorse Anjali Deshpande in her call for sending a petition to the Bar
Council of India
on the issue of refusal of the lawyers to take up the case of the accused
‘terrorists’ on the presumption of guilt and usurpation of the judiciary’s
right to give judgment.   Such refusals, undertaken under undue collective
pressure including violence (remember Allahabad?), amount to violation of the
Constitution. These incidents are growing in numbers. Recently, Bhopal also saw
a similar incident. Clearly, this is evidence of the communal politics taking
precedence over the Constitution.
