Personally, using https://conjugator.reverso.net/conjugation-english-verb-get.html and https://www.englishgrammar.org/simple-present-present-continuous-tense-differences/ as a reference, I think that "is getting" is probably the more correct term for its current use. Having said that though, I'm not overly fussed with which is being used :) Richard.
