Hi jenkins'ers,

My current configuration:

   - jenkins 1.588 & apache 2.4 reverse proxy, jre 1.7
   - master & win7 slaves on VMs ESXi, Intel Xeon CPU E5-2660 v2, 2.20GHz,
   15GB RAM
   - number of slaves: 9, among them one linux redhat 5.5
   - number of jobs: ~ 30 nightly, about 5 svn poll SCM every minute
   - duration of some jobs up to several jobs (coverage, metrics)

I noticed that jenkins becomes less and less responsive during the day.
It very often turns to "Proxy error" when users want to view a particular
job, which is very frustrating:

*Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request...*

The only solution then is to restart the jenkins service, it is kind of
over-killing process.
Increasing timeout is not a suitable solution.

Do you guys have recommendations about things to avoid or configure for
jenkins to run smoothly, among them:

   - h/w experience, VMs vs physical server
   - do size of logs have an effect on performance (we have sonar metrics
   with huge logs)
   - could some jenkins plugins be involved in these issues, might any be
   mem guzzler?
   - java related stuff

My thanx in advance
BR
