Are you sure about that? While looking into this problem I reviewed the code in UpdateSite.java and it most certainly opens the 'update center' URL itself and downloads the content when it is time to do so.

I tried various things to get Jenkins to download the latest data from the update center (the 'Check Now' button in the Advanced tab of the Manage Plugins page, removing updates/default.json), but I was never able to get Jenkins to download the latest JSON file. I even watched with tcpdump, and saw that Jenkins never issued any outbound HTTP request to the Update Center. I then downloaded the JSON file manually (using a shell on the same machine) and trimmed it so that Jenkins would be able to use it. I clicked 'Reload Configuration From Disk' and then the Manage Plugins page showed all the available plugin updates. It is now download plugins and installing them, which means it *can* contact the Update Center. Any ideas what might have been happening here? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Jenkins Users" group.
