I have adopted a Jenkins installation and am attempting to configure
project-based matrix security using the Jenkins user database. I have a
couple users that cannot sign up and add themselves. They are getting the
message "User name is already taken"*, *even though there is no user
directory for these users and they don't show up in the manage users
screen. In addition, the user names in question show up on the people page
but can't be deleted there either. I tried by clicking on the user name and
appending "delete" to the URL. I get the "Are you sure about deleting the
user from Jenkins?" message and click Yes, but it doesn't remove the user
from the people page.

Is there some other "black-ops" way of removing this type of rogue user
account? Something else I'm missing? I really need to remove them so that
the users in question can sign up and have accounts.

Thanks,
-Phil
