Maybe you could keep an eye on http://jenkins-ci.org/releases.rss too. Whenever 
you see a new version of Jenkins UI sample plugin, it is very likely there is a 
new version of Jenkins too, usually with the same version number.

If you are using Thunderbird, you can create the following filter too:

- Header "Content-Base" is or contains, http://jenkins-ci.org
- Move to a folder / Add start / etc

You can create filters for your favorite plug-ins too. Just an idea. Hope that
