Hi all,

I'd like my Jenkins job to be able to 'read' the Maven version number of a
Maven build. I *don't* want Jenkins to pass a build number through for
Maven to use, rather the opposite direction: have build post-steps know
what Maven version was just built.

We're using a custom Maven plug-in to control the version number, so
there's some opportunity there to write extra code that would somehow
expose the version number to Jenkins. Does anyone know how a Maven build
can 'send' data to the Jenkins job that invoked it? Would it then be
possible to use this datum in a post-build shell execution task?
