Our case is: matrix project where different platforms produces artefacts with different names like <library>-win32.zip and <library>-linux32.tar.gz. All artefacts need to be placed under single folder ${BUILD_JOB} (=<library>) on FTP. I'm pretty sure this is not a 'worst practice'.
