I tried out [~bitwiseman] fix with the plugin update and  JAVA_OPTS variable set but no joy :( We original didnt really want to move away from declarative but whatever is the best option we will make needed changes.  assuming when you say  "_classes or no classes, it will still hit the limit._" are you refering to using classes combined with declarative. Would a move to scripted pipelines, broken out into shared libs be an option or will it be more of the same?
