OK, you don't have to add this to the Java command-line: you have to add this to the JVM options for your slaves.
But it doesn't seem to work! Namely, it does show up in the System information page for the slave, but it doesn't actually affect the code
What confuses me is that https://github.com/aws/aws-sdk-java/commit/a3a2c56f27770e241f777a63034743d95d6a7486#L198R1057 sure makes it look like this support was added in 1.3.20 of AWS. And that's the version that the s3 plugin uses. But it still doesn't take effect! And hell... I even disassembled AmazonS3Client.class from inside the JAR and the code to do the getProperty is not there!
