You have hard-coded sampleGroup in Jenkins for cloning the Jenkinsfile, and now you have a commit that is to an entirely different repo, as far as git is concerned. I think you could fix this by using the GitLab variables in the Jenkinsfile SCM configuration. See https://github.com/jenkinsci/gitlab-plugin#defined-variables . Maybe gitlabSourceRepoURL would be necessary? You'll have to experiment, I don't have experience with this precise workflow.
