After much head-banging over this I finally got pods created concurrently and in parallel.

Using a different (random) label for each podTemplate does create pods in parallel but the plugin treats all podTemplates in a Run as nested templates even when they are not.
The hacky workaround to stop this is to clear all previously stacked template names before creating a new one. Calling this function before any occurrence of podTemplate achieves this.
