Today is the day that we should choose the next LTS baseline. That LTS baseline will release 30 Oct 2024. It will drop support for Java 11 and move Jenkins core from
- Spring Security 5 (end of life <https://spring.io/blog/2024/03/01/support-timeline-announcement-for-spring-framework-6-0-x-and-5-3-x>) to Spring Security 6 - Jetty 10 (end of community support <https://github.com/jetty/jetty.project/issues/10485>) to Jetty 12 - Java EE 8 to Jakarta EE 9 I recommend Jenkins 2.477 <https://www.jenkins.io/changelog/2.477/> as the LTS baseline for 30 Oct 2024. Basil recommends either 2.476 <https://www.jenkins.io/changelog/2.476/> or 2.477 <https://www.jenkins.io/changelog/2.477/> as the LTS baseline in his Spring Security 6.x summary message <https://groups.google.com/g/jenkinsci-dev/c/gsXAqOQQEPc/m/i_UZjeITAQAJ>. I prefer 2.477 because it avoids a backport of one fix and includes several UI improvements. I've seen no issues in my use of Jenkins 2.477.
