Hi everyone!

I'm the maintainer of the External Workspace Manager Plugin.

A critical bug (link here <https://issues.jenkins.io/browse/JENKINS-70693>) 
has been raised that the plugin doesn't work correctly after some recent 
upgrades in Jenkins (and other related plugins, I assume). I think the 
issue started after Feb 17th, which correlates with some updates in the 
workflow-basic-steps plugin (a different issue, linked here 
<https://issues.jenkins.io/browse/JENKINS-70528>). But it's more of an 
assumption.

Honestly, I don't know what the root cause is. I haven't developed anything 
in this plugin for a while, so I'm a bit outdated. Does anyone know what 
may be the problem and give me some hints on how to fix it?
