1. JDO-651 "Modify specification to address NoSQL datastores": https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JDO-651 2. Allow makePersistent outside a transaction: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JDO-589 This was one of the first items that became "support NoSQL datastores better". This JIRA specifies an extended persistence context similar to JPA. But from what I've seen of NoSQL datastores perhaps auto-commit is a better model. Auto-commit would mean that makePersistent and deletePersistent if called outside a transaction with auto-commit flag turned on, become atomic operations. Do we need both semantics? This is currently marked as 3.2. If there is already an implementation, could we move this up to 3.1? 3.
