Also note that Flymake can be used to validate XML files on the fly, even ones without 
a formal DTD.
*Very* convenient when playing with Ant build.xml files.

To enable XML validation, you will need the XMLStar tool from this site: 
http://xmlstar.sourceforge.net/

which runs jikes frequently and parses its error and warning messages.

On a fast machine this works surprisingly well.
