Some one may beat me to this, but here goes... To quote Paul, the creater of JDE, " Please read the JDE USer Guide." And I mean that in the nicest possible way!!! Seriously, take a look at the user guide (at jde.sunsite.dk, if I remember correctly). It will tell you what you need in your .emacs file, etc. Pay careful attention to the versions of the various components that you need (speed bar, eieio, etc.) Follow Pauls instructions and you'll be fine. (Hint: I think Paul is a tech writer at Mathworks as a day job, so you'll find that the JDE User Guide is the best software documentation you'll find, bar none.)
