If you are a windows ten user do the following. Press the windows key. Now start typing notification, you should now hear notification and action setting. Press enter and the setting dialog opens. >From here you will tab until you hear Outlook, tab once more, you hear Outlook on, use the space bar to turn off these notifications and the reading of your messages as they come in. In my case I hear Outlook 2016, not sure what version you are using. There is no save or apply button so just close this window.
