Hi Adrian, Like you I want the extra confirmation, but although Jaws doesn't report the message consistently any more the removal process is being completed. When the removal process is completed the Safely Remove icon disappears from the system tray unless you have more than 1 external drive running which I'm prone to do. But, let's say you have 3 external drives running and their drive letters are L, M, & N. You want to remove drive M, you open the Safely Remove from the system tray, choose driveM, and press enter. Now, Jaws doesn't report the drive is safe to remove, but if you look in, Computer, driveM won't be showing which means it's safe to remove.
If you're only running 1 external drive, after you choose it from the Safely Remove icon, and Jaws doesn't report it to be safe to remove, look in, Computer, and if you don't see it in the drive list it's safe to remove. A related point: My tech consultant says that removing an item, such as an SD card, can be done safely so long as the window is closed. He'd say, then, that even if you aren't getting that reassuring confirmation, you'll be okay.
