Hi Adrian,

Like you I want the extra confirmation, but although Jaws doesn't report the
message consistently any more the removal process is being completed. When
the removal process is completed the Safely Remove icon disappears from the
system tray unless you have more than 1 external drive running which I'm
prone to do. But, let's say you have 3 external drives running and their
drive letters are L, M, & N. You want to remove drive M, you open the
Safely Remove from the system tray, choose driveM, and press enter. Now,
Jaws doesn't report the drive is safe to remove, but if you look in,
Computer, driveM won't be showing which means it's safe to remove.

If you're only running 1 external drive, after you choose it from the Safely
Remove icon, and Jaws doesn't report it to be safe to remove, look in,
Computer, and if you don't see it in the drive list it's safe to remove.

Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

Mike, just a thought. Before going to the system tray, do you close the
window displaying that drive's contents? Then does the confirmation show up
in the system tray?

A related point: My tech consultant says that removing an item, such as an
SD card, can be done safely so long as the window is closed. He'd say, then,
that even if you aren't getting that reassuring confirmation, you'll be
okay. Even so, I admit I take the extra precaution of getting system tray
confirmation.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Safe To Remove Hardware Message

Hi All,

Running Widows 10 Pro Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.81) with Jaws 16 thru
J2018 latest. Whenever I want to eject / remove an external harddrive I
click on the system tray icon, choose the device, and press enter on it, but
Jaws doesn't report the following:

Safe To Remove Hardware: The 'USB Mass Storage Device' device can now be
safely removed from the computer.

Can anyone tell me how to get Jaws to report the message above? Or, what
setting is supposed to be activated to report the message above? All help
will be greatly appreciated. Thanks mooy moocho.

Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!
