If your application (if it's an old legacy application) is using
features particular to Xerces 1.4.3, then upgrading to Xerces-J 2.9.1
(or the upcoming, version 2.10.0) may consume development effort (the
effort will most likely to change your application, to use 2.9.1 or
2.10.0 version -- if your application is using APIs, which are not
present in Xerces-J 2.9.1/2.10.0, which is most likely because
Xerces-J 2.9.1+ is vastly better than, 1.4.3).
