Ajay,

Xalan should be able to work with any conforming JAXP parser. There's no
reason why you can't use Xerces 2.9.1 with Xalan 2.7.1. I'm sure many
people already have environments with this combination today as these are
the most recent Xerces and Xalan releases and have been available for quite
awhile. Regarding future Xalan releases you should ask on the Xalan mailing
list.
