Or maybe there's something in the process. I first committed the libxml2
stuff, then made it the default as an afterthought. The point of making it
default was so it would get some testing at large. Shame that didn't happen
until a release candidate!
Now it seems to have got that testing, but unfortunately the problem is too
distant from XML to make much sense to me, at least without more time&effort
than I have just now. Unless Igor has a better idea, I'd just switch back to
expat as default for a user-facing release.
