The {{finalize}} step of {{dev/create-release/release-build.sh}} fails at its
last step, "Remove old releases from the mirror", when the release is the first
one of its series (x.y.0, or the first preview of a series).
The release workflow sets {{DEBUG_MODE=1}}, so {{release-util.sh}} enables
{{set -o pipefail}}. In

{{grep -v}} selects nothing when there is no older release of the series, exits
with 1, and {{set -e}} aborts the script before the "No previous ... version
found to remove" branch and {{exit 0}}. The workflow is reported as failed
although every release step has already completed. This happened when
finalizing Spark 4.3.0.
