*Problem*
At {{{}37913ef850b{}}}, Connect tests lack direct checks for some retry options
and progress cleanup on errors.
*Proposed change*
Add six test methods to the existing retry and progress suites.
*Done when*
Tests check the expected delays, errors, output and callbacks. Relevant suites
and Python lint pass.
