Just to revive discussion on this since 2021, is exposing a response writer for
prometheus still something the community would find useful to integrate?
The prometheus exporter is great for it's customizability but has become a
burden to maintain at times. I am interested in possibly contributing to this
area of adding a response writer that exposes prometheus metrics natively
within Solr so my team can use this functionality.
As David said having both exist for cluster-level vs node level metrics makes
sense. Allowing users to scape the node level metrics as prometheus format is
something my team would like to do without having to rely on the prometheus
exporter.
