Houston Putman commented on SOLR-15733:
---------------------------------------

I hope its not too late to be asking this question, but what does creating this
solrj module buy users?

* There are no real additional dependencies that solrj-streaming relies on.
* Eventually (by 10.0) the vast majority of this code will end up in solr-core
probably.

I get splitting up SolrJ is hot, and I definitely agree that the JDBC & SQL
stuff should be split out, but I'm not sure I'm sold on this. It seems like an
unnecessary intermediary step.

> The huge amount of streaming expression code under
> {{org.apache.solr.client.solrj.io}} package can be shipped as an optional
> jar. The {{solrj-jdbc}} (or {{solrj-sql}}) modules would then have a
> dependency on this...
