Jan Høydahl commented on SOLR-16041:
------------------------------------

The smoketester in Jenkins currently fails with
{code:java}
BUILD FAILED in 1m 54s
16 actionable tasks: 16 executed
Gradle was unable to watch the file system for changes
net.rubygrapefruit.platform.NativeException: Couldn't add watch, error = 2:

 Method)

net.rubygrapefruit.platform.internal.jni.AbstractFileEventFunctions$NativeFileWatcher.startWatching(AbstractFileEventFunctions.java:198)
{code}
I wonder if we in jenkins may have to specify a different {{--tmp-dir}} folder
than {{/tmp}} for this to work?

> Prepare a Jenkins job that runs smoke tester on 9.0

> The old ant build had a [target
> "nightly-smoke"|https://github.com/apache/lucene-solr/blob/branch_8_11/build.xml#L420:L466]
> that would build the release and run smoketester on it. This was run nightly
> before each release in Jenkins to catch issues early -
> [https://ci-builds.apache.org/job/Lucene/job/Lucene-Solr-SmokeRelease-8.11/]
> Could be useful to have a similar mechanism now.
