Here is a process flow of a DeleteByQuery. The doDistribDeleteByQuery is where a leader forwards the command to its replicas. The doDeleteByQuery in DistributedZkUpdateProcessor is where the command is forwarded to the shard leaders, so I do think that my logic of forwarding the request to doDeleteByQuery is in the right location, although the whole approach is not optimal.
