David Eric Pugh commented on SOLR-15685: ---------------------------------------- Is the .devcontainer how you would use VSCode for developing on Solr? Should I think of it as similar to the config files for Eclipse or Intellij? I have been bit by the Perl issue ;) and was thinking we need better messaging when you run Gradle and don't have Perl installed. > Add Devcontainer to make building easier > ---------------------------------------- > > Key: SOLR-15685 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-15685 > Project: Solr > Issue Type: Wish > Security Level: Public(Default Security Level. Issues are Public) > Components: Build > Affects Versions: main (9.0) > Reporter: Jonathan J Senchyna > Priority: Minor > Labels: build-tools > > I would like to propose the addition of a {{.devcontainer}} to make it easier > for developers to pull down the repo and get a build going. Currently, > running the build requires installing a JDK and Perl. Although not a > terrible amount of prerequisites, adding a {{.devcontainer}} will allow any > developer with Docker installed to simply open the project within the > container and have a fully-functional build environment. -- This message was sent by Atlassian Jira (v8.3.4#803005) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: issues-unsubscr...@solr.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: issues-h...@solr.apache.org
