I'll take a look at the async API issue you described. Most of my testing lately (in the Solr 9 codebase) has been with the synchronous APIs, so that's a good callout. Regarding the AwsRegion comment, what is the use case you had in mind? I would think that if you want to use a different storage substrate, you would want to build a new `BackupRepository` altogether.
