costas-db opened a new pull request, #3831:
URL: https://github.com/apache/parquet-java/pull/3831

   ### What changes?

Use `ColumnPath` instead of flattened dot strings when matching source
column chunks during row-group copying. Add a regression with ordinary string
columns whose distinct paths (`["a.b"]` and `["a", "b"]`) previously collided.

   ### Why is this needed?

Flattening both paths to `"a.b"` lets one source chunk overwrite the other.
Copying the row group then fails because one column appears to be missing. The
change preserves path-component identity in memory and does not alter the
Parquet format.

   ### Tests

   - `TestParquetWriterAppendBlocks` (7 tests)
   - Spotless
   - Apache RAT

   Fixes #3829
