h3. Problem
HDDS-17107 shows the startup progress of a datanode on its own web UI and
through its StartupProgress MXBean. To follow a rolling restart, operators have
to open the page of each datanode. The SCM Datanodes page lists all datanodes,
but not whether a datanode is still starting, which phase it is in, or how long
it will take.
h3. Proposal
Show the startup phase and estimated remaining time of each datanode on the SCM
Datanodes page.
A datanode registers with SCM only after its containers are loaded, so SCM does
not get this from registration or heartbeats today. Options:
* The datanode reports its startup progress to SCM before it registers. This
needs a change to the datanode to SCM protocol.
* SCM reads the StartupProgress MXBean from the HTTP server of datanodes it
already knows about, e.g. a datanode restarted while SCM keeps running. No
protocol change, but datanodes SCM has not seen yet are not covered.
