Opera is a fairly good browser - comes in mac, unix and windoze
flavors. It often doesn't do javascript well, which is a pain in the
butt if you are a designer.

This is the problem. Every browser except IE has various problems
(not that IE is entirely free of them, but it has far fewer), and,
since 90% of web site visitors are using IE on Windoze, web designers
optimize for that platform, since there are so many cross-browser
issues. Now with Netscape deciding to pretty much give up the browser
ghost, no one is going to design for Mozilla or Opera - just too time
consuming given the small audience.

It's really, really a drag, and I don't see much way around it. Also,
as someone who does a lot of web work (web app programming), I have
no choice but to test things out using IE. Sigh.
