[~williamdo], I believe any custom collection that doesn't implement
{{Externalizable}} or {{write/readObject}} will behave this way.
Generally, I would prefer that {{Collections.SingletonList}} is deserialized
into {{Collections.SingletonList}}. I don't think this would complicate the fix
a lot.
