Good, I just saw you did some other changes on the HIVE-15427 patch. I agree
that we will need to go back to shims again if we want to support hadoop 3.
This is the patch we are testing on Cloudera, and all tests are passing for us,
but I wanted to upload a preliminary patch (without shims) for upstream to
start testing it here.
[~sershe] I'll be on vacation for a month, and I might not have time to
continue investigating this after that. Feel free to reassign the jira, close
it as duplicate, or merge your changes with your patch from HIVE-15427.
