Thanks for the initial comments/concerns [~sershe]. A prototype already exists
(for purposes of measuring what the gains are) and was used to run the
benchmark tests reported in the attached PDF document. The details are in the
document, but the short of it is 98% reduction in storage space for a number of
tables which originally contained millions or tens of millions of records and
10-60x improvement in query latency.
